James Douglas Jordan (born 17 December 1884) was the son of David Douglas and Margaret Ann Jordan (née - ). David’s place of birth has not been found; he died in 1889. The 1891 and 1911 Union Workhouse, Burnley Censuses give Margaret’s place of birth as Bolton Abbey, Lancashire and Bolton Woods, Yorkshire, respectively.
1891 Burnley, Lancashire Census: Union Workhouse - James Douglas Jordan, aged 6 years, born Todmorden, Lancashire [sic], son of Margaret Ann Jordan, widow. [Arthur and Frederick, Margaret's sons, were also inmates.]
1901 Brierfield, Lancashire Census: Finsley - James Jordan, aged 17 years, born Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire. [James was employed by Rawson Atkinson, Farmer.]
James was married to Ruth Emily Raine, née Thompson, a widow, in 1908.
1911 Burnley, Lancashire Census: 10, Hallows Street - James Douglas Jordan, aged 28 years, born Hebden Bridge, Yorkshire, husband of Ruth Emily Jordan.
