Charles Slingsby (born 13 January 1895) was the son of Frederick William and Helen Telford Slingsby, née Haldane. Frederick was born at Bell Busk, Yorkshire and Helen at Marylebone, Middlesex. Charles was the cousin of Lieutenant Anthony Edward King Slingsby (q.v.); Captain Arthur Morris Slingsby (q.v.); Lieutenant Stephen Henry Slingsby (q.v.) and a relative of Capt. Henry Laurence Slingsby (q.v.).

LIEUTENANT CHARLES SLINGSBY ACCIDENTALLY KILLED

Lieut. Charles Slingsby, the third son of Mr. F. W. Slingsby, of Thorpe Underwood Hall, and a nephew of Mr. J. Arthur Slingsby, of Carla Beck, Skipton, was, we regret to announce, accidentally killed on Sunday, the 8th inst., at Edinburgh, where he was undergoing a course of training with his regiment, the Argyle and Sutherlands. Lieut. Slingsby, who was 20 years of age, joined the Seaforth Highlanders on the outbreak of the war as a private, and rose to the rank of sergeant, after which he received a commission. He was educated at Eton, and has two elder brothers serving with the colours – Captain Tom Slingsby, in training with the York and Lancasters, and Lieut. Harry Slingsby, with the Yorkshire Hussars in France.

LIEUT. CHARLES SLINGSBY ACCIDENTALLY KILLED
