EARBY SOLDIER KILLED IN THE DARDANELLES
Official intimation had been received from the War Office of the death, in Gallipoli, of Pte. Robert Hargreaves, R.A.M.C. He was a young man of exemplary character, and prior to joining the Army was for sometime associated with Ambulance work in Earby. He leaves a widow and one child, living in Water
Street. Hargreaves was a native of Sabden, and a weaver by trade.

THE LATE PTE. ROBERT HARGREAVES
Mrs. Hargreaves, Water Street, Earby, widow of Private Robert Hargreaves, R.A.M.C., whose death in the Dardanelles was reported last week, has received a batch of condolences from officers and men in the 9th West Yorkshire Regiment, to which he was attached. Sergt. J. A. Taylor writes:– “I was with him when a shell burst amongst us, killing three and injuring two more, one of whom has died since. I myself escaped with having my puttee torn. Your husband was most popular in the Section and was a true friend to me.”

R.A.M.C. MAN’S DEATH IN THE DARDANELLES
News has arrived in Earby of the death of Private Robert Hargreaves, of the R.A.M.C., who was one of a number of members of the Earby Ambulance Division to enlist at the outbreak of the war. Deceased was a native of Sabden, and worked as a weaver in Earby. He leaves a widow and one child, who live in Water Street.
Private Hargreaves met his death in the Dardanelles, and no particulars are given, apart from the official War Office intimation.

EARBY CASUALTIES
Mrs. Hargreaves of Water Street, Earby, who is the widow of the late Private Robert Hargreaves, of the R.A.M.C., news of whose death was published in the ‘Pioneer’ last week, has received a number of letters of sympathy and condolence from officers of the 9th West Yorkshire Regiment, to which her husband belonged. Sergt. Taylor, writing from the Dardanelles, says:– “I was with your husband when a shell burst amongst us, killing three and injuring two more, one of whom has died since.
