EARBY SOLDIER DROWNED AT MANCHESTER

Pte. James Henry Nuttall, of the Royal Defence Corps, lost his life at Manchester during the dense fog prevailing on Saturday night. He was proceeding, along with another sentry, to take up duty for the night along the ship Canal when he accidentally fell into the dock and was drowned. Deceased was 53 years of age and a member of the National Reserve. Prior to rejoining the Army in the ear1y part of the present year, he had lived for about five years at 51, Longroyd Road, Earby, and worked as a weaver at Spring Mill. He leaves a wife and four children.
