BAILEY - August 26th, 1918, at the 56th Casualty Clearing Station, France, of wounds received in action, Private Arthur Bailey, 24th Royal Fusiliers, aged 19 years, third son of the late Thomas Bailey, and of Mrs. Bailey, 12 Duckett Street, Skipton.

Private Arthur Bailey, Skipton

Mrs. Bailey, 12 Duckett Street, Skipton, received a telegram on Saturday conveying the sad intelligence that her son, Private Arthur Bailey, Royal Fusiliers, had died at the 50th Casualty Clearing Station, France, on August 26th, from wounds received in action. Private Bailey, who was l9 years of age, enlisted in August, 1917, and had been in France about nine months. He was in the big push in May last, when he was slightly gassed and suffered from trench fever. He was invalided home, and had only been back in France a fortnight when he met his death. In civil life he was a farm servant for Mr. T. Greenwood, Ackernley Hall, Foulridge, and attended Kelbrook Church. A brother, Private Herbert Bailey, is with the R.A.M.C. in France.

BAILEY - In loving memory of Private Arthur Bailey, 24th Batt. Royal Fusiliers, died of wounds received in action in France August 26th, 1918, aged 19 years. Buried in Bagneux, British Cemetery, Gaixencourt, third beloved son of the late Thomas and S. A. Bailey, 12 Duckett Street, Skipton.

Pte. A. Bailey Dies of Wounds

Mr. Bailey, of 12, Duckett Street, Skipton, received a telegram on Saturday last that her son, Pte. Arthur Bailey, of the Royal Fusiliers, died from wounds on Aug. 26th, at the 50th Casualty Clearing Station, France. Pte. Bailey, who was 19 years of age, enlisted in August, 1917, and had been in France about five months. He took part in the big push in May last, and was slightly gassed and also suffered from trench fever. He had only been back in France about a fortnight when he met his death. He was formerly employed as a farm servant by Mr. T. Greenwood, Ackernley Hall, Foulridge. He was a member of the Kelbrook Parish Church. Mrs. Bailey has another son, Pte. Herbert Bailey, serving with the R.A.M.C. in France.
