Arthur Ingham was the son of Mason and Martha Ingham, née Simpson. Mason was born at Skipton, Yorkshire and Martha at Brierfield, Lancashire. Arthur was the cousin of Private Henry Ingham (38667) (q.v.) and Private Norman Edwin Dale (26641) (q.v.).

ANOTHER SKIPTONIAN PAYS THE PRICE

We regret to learn of the death in action November 3rd of Private Arthur Ingham, Durham Light Infantry, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mason Ingham, 30, Devonshire Street, Skipton, The sad news was received from the, War Office on Wednesday morning. Formerly a loomer and twister in the employ of Mr. Smith Hartley, Union Mills, Pte. Ingham enlisted soon after the outbreak of war, but was discharged as unfit after three months’ training. He was called up again under the Derby scheme, and after being transferred from the Northumberland Fusiliers into the Durham’s, he went to France in October, 1916, and was wounded on November 5th last year. He returned to the Front again in March of this year. He was 29 years of age and single.

ANOTHER SKIPTONIAN KILLED IN ACTION

Mr. and Ms. Mason Ingham, of 30, Devonshire Street, Skipton, received official information from the War Office on Wednesday last that their son, Private Arthur Ingham, of the Durham Light Infantry, was killed in action on November 2nd. Private Ingham, who was 29 years of age, enlisted at the outbreak of war, but was discharged after three months’ training. He again joined up under the Derby scheme, and went out to France at the beginning of October, 1916. He was wounded the following month, and went back to France in February this year. He was formerly employed as a loomer and twister by Mr. Smith Hartley, Union Shed, Skipton.
