Arthur John Moorhouse (born 11 September 1891) was the son of William and Agnes Moorhouse, née Dyson. William was born at Long Preston and Agnes at York, Yorkshire.

1901 Birkdale, Lancashire Census: 14, Burlington Road - Arthur J. Moorhouse, aged 9 years, born Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Lancashire, son of William Moorhouse (married).

1911 Cheadle, Cheshire Census: Milverton, Bramhall - Arthur John Moorhouse, aged 19 years, born Manchester, Lancashire. [Arthur was living with his sisiter Janet Evelyn Moorhouse - their parents were away on a visit.]

British Army WW1 Medal Rolls Index Cards: Lieut. and Major, Arthur John Moorhouse, Manchester Regiment. Theatre of War first served in: France. Date of entry therein: 15 July 1915.

On the 24 September 1917, the 12th (Service) Bn Manchester Regiment absorbed the R.H.Q. and 2 squadrons of the 1/1st Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry. It then became the 12th (Duke of Lancaster's Own Yeomanry) Bn Manchester Regiment.

MOORHOUSE – November 28th, died after a few days' illness in London, of pneumonia, following influenza, Major A. J. Moorhouse, 12th Manchester Regiment, only surviving son of the late William Moorhouse, of Long Preston and Manchester, aged 27 years.
