Arthur Stott was the son of Edward and Jane Ann Stott, née Whitham. Edward was born at Bradford and Jane at Skipton, Yorkshire. Arthur was the nephew of Private Charles Arthur Stott (29169) (q.v.).

Arthur was married to Frances Reed in 1916.

Sergeant A. Stott, Skipton

News has been received that Sergeant A. Stott, Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, son of Mr. and Mrs. Stott, 9 Star Inn Yard, Skipton, was killed in action on April 18th. He was in camp with the Territorials at Marske when war broke out and went to France in April 1915. Twenty three years of age, he was employed by Messrs. Wilkinson, Park Shed, and was a valued member of the Bull Dog Scouts. A letter received by deceased’s wife, who resides at Doncaster, says that a bomb fell into trench and killed Sergeant Stott instantly.

Sergeant A. Stott Killed

Sergt. Arthur Stott, of the West Riding Regiment, husband of Mrs. Stott, of Doncaster, and son of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Stott, of 9, Star Inn Yard, Skipton, was killed in action on April 11th by the falling of a bomb. Sergt. Stott, who was 22 years of age, enlisted soon after the outbreak of war, and went to France in April, 1915. He was formerly employed as a dyer by Messrs. Wilkinson, Park Shed, Skipton, and was formerly connected with the Skipton Bulldog Troop of Boy Scouts.
