CONONLEY – SECOND LIEUTENANT B. TEMPEST DIES FROM WOUNDS

Sec.-Lt. Basil Tempest, Manchester Regiment, has died of wounds received in action on April 25th. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. Tempest, Whalley Range, Manchester, and nephew of Mr. A. Tempest, The Grove, Ilkley, and Mr. Tempest, Springs Terrace, Ilkley (formerly a watchmaker in Keighley Road, Skipton), and a grandson of the late James Tempest of Aireview, Cononley. Before the war he was a student apprentice for four years at Messrs. Mather and Platts Ltd. In 1914 he gained a Manchester University scholarship, and on the outbreak of war joined the University O.T.C. He was gazetted Second Lieutenant in the following November and served in France and Macedonia.

Second-Lieutenant Basil Tempest, Manchester Regiment, has died of wounds received in action on April 25th. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. Tempest, Whalley Range, Manchester, and nephew of Mr. A.
