16 November 1917

In loving memory of Private Bertie James Adams, who was killed at Grandcourt, in France, November, 14th, 1916, in his 22nd year.

Twelve months have passed and still we miss him,
Friends may think the wound is healed;
But they little know the sorrow
Deep within our hearts concealed.
A light is from our household gone,
A voice we loved is stilled;
A place is vacant on our hearth
Which never can be filled.

- From his loving Father, Mother, Sisters and Brother, Main Street, Kelbrook.

In loving memory of Private Bertie James Adams, killed in France on Nov. 14th, 1916, in his 22nd year.

The fairest flowers are first to fall,
A brother true and brave;
The dearest, fondest, best of all,
Has found a hero's grave.
Some day we hope to meet him,
Some day, we know not when,
To clasp his hands in the better land
Never to part again.

- From his Sister Jessie, and Bother-in-law in France. Main Street, Kelbrook.

In loving memory of Private Bertie James Adams, killed in France on Nov. 14th, 1916, in his 22nd year.

Sleep on, dear brother, in a lonely grave,
Your life for your country you nobly gave;
No loved ones near to say good-bye,
But in God's keeping now you lie.
Not dead to those who loved him,
Not lost, but gone before;
He lives with us in memory still,
And will do ever more.

- From his brother Albert in India, and Annie.
