Charles Edward Houldsworth (born 8 January 1888), was the son of Henry and Ann Houldsworth, née Brass. Henry was born at Silsden and Ann at Richmond, Yorkshire.

1891 Silsden, Yorkshire Census: 10, Chapel Street - Charles E. Holdsworth, aged 3 years, born Silsden, son of Henry and Ann Holdsworth.

1901 Silsden, Yorkshire Census: 12, Highfield Lane - Charles E. Holdsworth, aged 13 years, born Silsden, son of Henry and Ann Holdsworth.

Charles was married to Frances Crohen in 1916.

HOULDSWORTH – February 10th, at the Morton Banks Military Hospital, Pte. Charles Edward Houldsworth, Durham Light Infantry, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Houldsworth, Chapel Street, Silsden, aged 29 years.

SILSDEN SOLDIER DIES IN HOSPITAL

The death of Private Charles Edward Houldsworth of the Durham Light Infantry, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Houldsworth, of Chapel Street, Silsden, and husband of Mrs. Houldsworth, of Rectory Row, Keighley, took place at the Keighley Morton Banks Military hospital on Saturday last. Pte. Houldsworth went out to Canada in the year 1909 where he remained a number of years, and then returned to Silsden. He enlisted about seven months ago, and after being passed at Halifax, was sent for training at Durham. He had, however, to go into hospital, and after being treated there for five months he came home on a 48 hours’ leave. His condition was such that he was unable to return to his regiment, and he was admitted to the Morton Banks Hospital where he died as above stated. Prior to enlisting he was employed as a fitter by Messrs. Prince Smith and Son, Keighley. He was 29 years of age, and leaves a widow to mourn his loss. The funeral took place at Silsden on Tuesday last.
