[Untitled article]

We regret to report that Corporal C. Fort, 3rd Grenadier Guards, who has been missing since 13th April last, is officially reported to have fallen in action. The melancholy news was received by his wife, who resides with her mother-in-law, Mrs. Stopforth, in Eshton-terrace. The event is doubly sad, as Mrs. Stopforth only received the ill tidings of her husband’s death in France in March last. Pte. Stopforth was a well-known local artist, and had been associated with the Salvation Army and the Moor Lane U.M.C. Corporal Fort was employed at the Barrow Printworks, and was also connected with the Moor Lane Church, and was a teacher in the school. Their numerous friends will join with us in an expression of regret.
