Clarence Clark was the son of James and Emily Clark, née Russell. James was born at Terry Booth near South Kyme, Lincolnshire and Emily at Skipton, Yorkshire. Clarence was the cousin of Private David Russell (2282) (q.v.); Private David Russell (2431) (q.v.) and L/Sergeant John Willie Russell (14703) (q.v.).

SKIPTONIANS WOUNDED IN PALESTINE

Two Skiptonians who have been taking part in the fighting in Palestine have been wounded - Private James Judson, Essex Regiment, whose wife lives in Cowper Street, and Private Clarence Clark, Essex Regiment, son of Mr. J. Clark, 8, Cromwell Street, Skipton. The latter, who has received a gunshot wound in the thigh, formerly worked as a dyer's labourer at Park Shed, while Private Judson had previous to joining up in January last been foe 26 years in the employment of Mr. Foster Horner, Caroline Square.

CLARK - November 26th, 1918, died in Palestine, Private Clarence Clark, 27281, B Company, 1/5th Essex Regiment, son of Mr. Clark, 8 Cromwell Street, aged 23 years.

Private Clarence Clark, Skipton

Mr. Clark, 8 Cromwell Street, Skipton, received the sad news during last week-end that his son, Private Clarence Clark, of the Essex Regiment, had died in Palestine from pneumonia. Pte. Clark was 23 years of age, and was formerly in the employ of Messrs. Wilkinson, dyers, Skipton. He enlisted about three years ago, and had been on active service in the Far East about two years.

SKIPTON SOLDIERS WOUNDED

Pte. James Judson, of the Essex Regiment, husband of Mrs. Judson, of Cowper Street, Skipton has been wounded in Palestine. Pte. Judson, who is 38 years of age, enlisted in January last, and was sent to Egypt in May. Prior to enlisting he had for 26 years been employed as a painter by Mr. Foster Horner.

Mr. J. Clark, of 8, Cromwell Street, Skipton, also received word that his son, Pte. Clarence Clark, of the Essex Regiment, is suffering from gun shot wounds in the thigh, received in the recent fighting in Palestine. Prior to joining up he was employed as a dyer's labourer at Park Shed, Skipton.

Skipton Soldier's Death in Palestine

Mr. Clarke, of 8, Cromwell Street, Skipton, has received news that his son, Pte. Clarence Clark, Essex Regiment, has died in Palestine from pneumonia. He had been in Palestine about two years, and had been joined up three years. He was 23 years of age. Before enlisting he was employed by Messrs. Wilkinson, dyers, Skipton.
