On Feb 28th 1917, the 2nd Battalion, whose march discipline while making a move had recently been pronounced by the G.O.C. of the 29th Division "fit for an inspection parade," delivered a successful attack in the Combles area. The advance was finally held up by a shortage of bombs, and the battalion had to fall back under pressure of a heavy counter-attack.

MORE SKIPTON MEN WOUNDED

Mrs. Wright, of Millbridge, has been officially informed that her son, Pte. Edgar Wright, of the Royal Fusiliers, has been wounded in the Western Front. From another Skipton soldier named Murgatroyd she has received a letter stating that her son was wounded in the right arm on February 28th, and that he was in hospital in France. Formerly employed as an engineer at the works of Messrs. Grace and Sutcliffe, Keighley. Pte. Wright enlisted over two years ago before he had reached the age of 17, and had served in the Dardanelles before being transferred to France.

SKIPTON MEN WOUNDED - PRIVATE E.R. WRIGHT WOUNDED AND MISSING

On Monday morning, Mrs. Wright of Millbridge, Skipton, received an intimation from the Records Office, Hounslow, that her son, Pte. Edgar Roberts Wright of the Royal Fusiliers had been posted by the War Office as "wounded and missing" in France since February 28th last. Only 18 years of age, Pte. Wright joined the Army in January 1915 when he was only sixteen years old, and had served in the Dardanelles operations before being sent to France.

SKIPTON SOLDIER WOUNDED

Official information has been received that Pte. Edgar Wright, of the Royal Fusiliers, son of Mrs. Wright, of Mill Bridge, Skipton, was wounded in the arm on February 28th. Pte. Wright, who is only 18 years of age, enlisted two years ago last January. He first went out to the Dardanelles, and was afterwards transferred to France. He was formerly employed as an engineer by Messrs. Grace and Sutcliffe's of Keighley.

Official information was received on Tuesday morning last from the Records Office, Hounslow, that Pte: Edgar Robert Wright, of the Royal Fusiliers, son of, Mrs. Wright, of 16, Mill Bridge, Skipton, was wounded on February 28th, and is now reported as missing. Pte. Wright, who is only 18 years of age, enlisted two years ago last January. He first went out to the Dardanelles, and was afterwards transferred to France. He was formerly employed as an engineer by Messrs. Grace and Sutcliffe’s of Keighley.
