Edward Faulkner was the son of Richard and Mary Ann Faulkner, née Merrick and brother of Private Daniel Faulkner (40050) (q.v.) and Private Job Faulkner (12147) (q.v.). Their father was born at London and mother at West Bromwich, Staffordshire.
1891 Runcorn, Cheshire Census: 20, Canal Street - Edward Faulkner, aged 2 years, born Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, son of Richard and Mary Faulkner. [Richard and Mary were living in the same house as Edward and Lizzie Faulkner - Edward may have been Richard's brother.]
1901 Silsden, Yorkshire Census: 3, Hayhills Road - Edward Faulkner, aged 11 years, born Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, son of Mary Ann Faulkner, widow.
The British Army Service Record for Edward Faulkner, 12648 [sic], exists but may be incomplete. [Edward joined the Army on the 26 August 1914. He joined the 6th Bn York and Lancaster Regiment, then transferring to the 173rd Tunnelling Company, Royal Engineers. Transferred back to the 6th Bn York and Lancasters, he went with the Battalion to Gallipoli. Returning to England, he deserted on the 6 December 1915, but later rejoined the Army as William Carter.]
