Fred Gill (born 24 November 1888) was the son of Arthur and Sarah Ann Gill, née Clapham. Arthur was born at Greenhill (Greenhow Hill), and Sarah at Frizinghall, Yorkshire. Fred's brother, Private Arthur Gill, 4564, 1/6th Bn Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) was killed in action, 3 September 1916; he is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Somme.
