George Henry Collins was the son of William and Sarah Collins, née Bissell. William and Sarah's place of birth is given as Dudley, South Staffordshire in the 1881 Census and as Kidderminster, England in the 1891 Census. In the 1901 Census, Sarah, by then a widow, gives her birthplace as Dudley, Staffordshire. George's sister, Christiana (Cissy) Collins, was married to Private John William Rogers (29/595) (q.v.).

1901 Skipton, Yorkshire Census: 21, Russell Street - George Collins, aged 12 years, born Skipton, son of Sarah Collins, widow.

George was married to Sarah Grace Nunn in 1910. Sarah married David Bowman in 1944. David, the son of Sarah and David lost his life in World War II.: Rifleman David Cartmal Collins, 3247400, 1st Bn The Cameronians (Scottish Rifles), died, 30 March 1942, age 21 and is commemorated on Rangoon Memorial, Myanmar.
