25 October 1918

GALE – In ever loving memory of my dear fiancé Private Harry Gale, West Yorkshire Regiment, who was killed in action October 24th, 19l7.

As I sit and think of you, dear Harry,
Of the happy days gone by,
And in my lonely hours of thinking
How I wish that you were nigh.
Time may heal a broken heart,
Time may make the wound less sore,
But time can never stop the longing
For my dear one gone before.

“Too dearly loved to be forgotten.”

From Annie and Mrs. Peacock, 72 Castle Street, Skipton.

GALE – In ever loving memory of my dear fiancée, Private Harry Gale, West Yorkshire Regiment, who was killed in action October 24th, 1917.

Two years have passed, our hearts still sore,
As time goes on we miss him more;
His pleasant laugh, his smiling face,
No one can ever fill his place.
What would I give to clasp his hand,
His dear, kind face to see;
To hear his voice, to see his smile,
That meant so much to me.

From Annie and all at 72 Castle Street, Skipton.

GALE – In everlasting remembrance of my dear fiancé, Private Harry Gale, West Yorkshire Regiment, who was killed in action, October 24th, 1917.

Three years today he was called away;
If love and care could death prevent,
Thy days would not so soon be spent.
Life was desired, but God did see
Eternal rest was best for thee.
A good life is often too short,
But a good name endureth for ever.

From Annie and All at 72 Castle Street, Skipton.
