James Thomas Swales (born 29 July 1899) was the son of Fred and Eleanor Robinson Swales, née Bownass. Fred was born at Dale Head, Yorkshire and Eleanor at Casterton, Westmorland. James was the cousin of Private Tom Swales (13653) (q.v.).
