MILITARY FUNERAL

NELSON SOLDIER’S DEATH FROM WOUNDS

Private John Dinsdale of the East Lancashire Regiment, who resided at Albert-street, died on Saturday in a Manchester hospital as a result of Shrapnel wounds in the body and left elbow. He was 36 years of age, and before the war was employed as a bricklayer by Mr. Albert Edmondson. He enlisted in August last year, and went to France in December. He leaves a widow and three children, for whom much sympathy is felt. The body was brought to Nelson, and on Wednesday afternoon the late Private Dinsdale was given a military funeral. The coffin was covered with the Union Jack, and eight soldiers, sent from Preston, walked at the side of the hearse. The Boys’ Bugle Band also attended, and at St. John’s churchyard, where the interment took place, sounded the “Last Post.” The Vicar (Rev. J. Morgan) officiated at the graveside.
