RAW – In loving memory of our dear son and brother, Private John Myles Raw (Lewis gunner), Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, killed in action at Inverness, Copse, Belgium, September 20th, 1917.

The face we loved in now laid low,
His fond, true heart is still;
The hand we clasped when we said good-bye
Lies low in death’s cold chill.
No one knows the parting.
Or what the farewell cost;
But God and His holy Angels
Have gained what we have lost.
