BARNOLDSWICK – DEATH OF A FORMER GAS WORKER

Sergeant J. W. Cushions, West Yorkshire Regiment, news of whose death has been received by friends in Barnoldswick, was killed in action on July 23rd. Thirty-three years of age and a native of Hull, he worked for some time on the erection of the new gasometer at the Barnoldswick gasworks, and lodged with Mr. Mark Brown in Gisburn Street. He enlisted from Barnoldswick in August of last year, and had been at the front about three months.

BARNOLDSWICK CASUALTIES

Sergeant J. W. Cushions, West Yorkshire Regiment, news of whose death has been received by friends in Barnoldswick, was killed in action on July 23rd. Thirty-three years of age and a native of Hull, he worked for some time on the erection of the new gasometer at the Barnoldswick Gasworks, and lodged with Mr. Mark Brown in Gisburn Street. He enlisted from Barnoldswick in August of last year, and had been at the Front about three months.
