Writing to Mrs. Thornton, l5, Devonshire Place, Skipton, deceased's sister, a nurse at the hospital, states that everything possible was done for deceased, that the priest was with him to the last, that he was buried in a cemetery near to the hospital, and that a cross containing his number and name had been put over the grave.

Private Edward Baxter, deceased's brother, who went from Skipton to Rochdale, has also served with the West Riding Regiment and was wounded in the Dardanelles by an explosive bullet through his right wrist, being subsequently discharged as unfit for further service. Another brother, Lance Corporal Felix Baxter, who now resides at Nelson, also enlisted about two years ago, but received his discharge probably owing to his advanced age.
