BATESON - In loving remembrance of Private P. Bateson, North Staffordshire Regiment, who died at Baghdad, August 3rd, 1917, aged 22 years.

When last we saw his smiling face
He looked so strong and brave;
We little thought how soon he'd be
Laid in a soldier's grave.
Some day we hope to meet him,
Some day know not when;
To clasp his hand in the better land
Never to part again.

Sadly missed by his loving Father and Mother, Sisters and Brother, Horton-in-Ribblesdale.

15 August 1919

BATESON - In loving memory of Private Parker Bateson, who died in Mesopotamia, August 3rd, 1917.

"Ever remembered."

We often think of days gone by
When we were all together;
A shadow o'er our life is cast,
A dear one gone for ever.
We prayed for a safe returning,
And longed to clasp, your hand.
But God has postponed the meeting
Till we meet in the better land.

Sadly missed by his Father and Mother, Brothers and Sisters, Rowe End, Horton-in-Ribblesdale.
