Richard Hall-Watt was the son of Ernest Richard Bradley and Julia Philadelphia Hall-Watt, née Cayley. Ernest was born at Walkington and Julia at Norton, Yorkshire. Julia was widowed in 1908 and married Gervas Malcolm Eyre in 1913. Julia was descended from Sir George Cayley (6th Baronet of Brompton) who was one of the most important people in the history of aeronautics.
