Private R. Lawson, of Kelbrook

The death is reported of Private Robert Lawson, a stretcher-bearer in the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Lawson, Vicarage Road, Kelbrook. When going into the trenches on April 7th, a shell burst among his Company, killing two and wounding several others. In a letter of sympathy to the bereaved parents, Company-Quarter-Master-Sergeant Brooks writes:– “I have received a few private effects from those who buried him, and these will be sent to you as soon as possible. “

Pte. Lawson was 24 years of age. He enlisted three years ago, and went out to France a little over a year ago. Two of his brothers are also in France.

LAWSON – In loving memory of a dear brother, Private Robert Lawson, 2/4th Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, who was killed in France April 7th, 1918.

The death is reported of Pte. Robert Lawson, a stretcher-bearer in the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, son of Mr. And Mrs. R. Lawson, Vicarage Road, Kelbrook.
