Robert Parsons was the son of Robert and Alice Parsons, née Frankland. Robert, senior, was born at Rathmell and Alice at Long Preston, Yorkshire. Robert, junior, was the cousin of T/2nd Lieutenant Ernest Parsons (q.v.).

1891 Rathmell, Yorkshire Census: Milgate House - Robert Parsons, aged 4 years, born Giggleswick, Yorkshire, son of Robert and Alice Parsons.

1901 Great Mitton, Yorkshire Census: Mitton Old Hall - Robert Parsons, aged 14 years, born Rathmell, Yorkshire. [Robert was employed by Robert Dibb, Farmer.]

1911 Gargrave, Yorkshire Census: Stainton Hall - Robert Parsons, aged 24 years, born Rathmell, Yorkshire. [Robert was living with Benjamin Knowles, Farmer.]

Private Robert Parsons, North Staffs. Regiment, died of wounds four days after admission to No. 8 Stationary Hospital, France, on April 24th. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Parsons, Stores Farm, Elslack, 31 years of age and single. Prior to joining up a year ago, he was a farm servant in the employ of Mr. Capstick of Rimington. He went out to France in August.

Elslack Soldier Dies of Wounds

Pte. Robert Parsons, North Staffs. Regiment, died of wounds four days after admission at No 8 Stationary Hospital, France, on April 24th. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Parsons, Stories Farm, Elslack, and 31 years of age and single. Prior to joining up a year ago he was a farm servant in the employ of Mr. Capstick, of Rimington. He went out to France in August.
