Sam Raby (born 13 January 1896) was the son of Tom and Mary Ann Raby, née Scott. Tom was born at Rastrick and Mary at Silsden, Yorkshire. Sam was baptized at Silsden Wesleyan Chapel on the 22 July 1896 (the family were then living at 8, Bridge Street, Silsden).
1901 Keighley, Yorkshire Census: 6, Back Beech Grove - Sam Raby, aged 5 years, born Silsden, Yorkshire, son of Thomas and Mary Raby.
1911 Northowram, Yorkshire Census: 22, Stephen Row - Sam Raby, aged 15 years, born Bridge Street, Silsden, Yorkshire, son of Tom and Mary Ann Raby.
