CRAVEN AND THE WAR

Private Stanley S. Duffill, Leicestershire Regiment, whose home is at Holme Bridge, Sutton, has been wounded and is a prisoner of war in Germany.

SUTTON-IN-CRAVEN – Death of Private S. S. Duffill

Another name has been added to the list of illustrious dead from the Parish of Sutton, who have fallen in the great war. Mr. and Mrs. Duffill, of Holmfield, Sutton, have received the sad news that their son, Private Stanley Spence Duffill, died at Namur in November last, whilst a prisoner in German hands, and was buried in the cemetery there on the 13th November last. The notification, which is from the War Office, states that Private Duffill, who was in the 6th Leicester Regiment, died of influenza. He was one of our brave lads who was taken prisoner when the Huns made the big push on 24th March, 1918. He was 20 years of age.

Mr. and Mrs. Duffill, of Holme Bridge, Sutton, have received a post-card from their son, Pte. Stanley S. Dufill, of the Leicestershire Regiment, stating that he is wounded and a prisoner of war in Germany.
