CRAVEN AND THE WAR

Signaller Tom Davy Killed

Mr. and Mrs. George Davy, of Overburn, Sutton, have received information that their younger son, Signaller Tom Davy, of the Northumberland Fusiliers, has been killed in action. He went across to France in February of this year, and was killed on Easter Sunday. He was only in his 20th year. After leaving the Sutton Council School he became a very diligent student at the Glusburn Technical Institute. Later he became a clerk in the office of Mr. Judge, accountant Skipton. He was connected with St. Thomas’s Church Sunday-school, and an enthusiastic supporter of the Boy Scout movement, being for some time patrol leader. He was held in high respect, being a very promising young man. The blow is a very hard one to his parents, who had sacrificed much to give him an opportunity in life. His elder brother is also in France. Reference was made to Gunner Davy’s death by the Vicar (Rev. A.R. Light) at the service on Sunday.
