WOUNDED AND MISSING

Lance-Corporal Tom Walker, West Riding Regiment, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Walker, of 3 Thornton Street, Skipton, has been wounded in the left arm and chest, and is at present in the 47th General Hospital, France. He enlisted about four years ago, and had been in France three years. He had previously suffered from trench feet.

WALKER – September 26th, 1918, died of wounds, Lance-Corporal T. E. Walker, West Riding Regiment, at the 47th General Hospital, Le Treport, France, the dearly beloved and only son of Mr. and Mrs. Walker, 3 Thornton Street, Skipton, aged 24 years.

Lance-Corporal Tom Walker, Skipton

To the Skipton Roll of Honour has to be added the name of Lance Corporal Tom Walker, Duke of Wellington’s (West Riding) Regiment, who died from wounds in the left arm and chest in the 47th General Hospital, France, on Friday last, in the presence of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Walker, of 3 Thornton Street, Skipton. Twenty-four years of age, and formerly a loomer and twister for Mr. Wright Stephenson, Broughton Road Shed, Skipton, Lance Corporal Walker enlisted four years ago, and had been in France three years.

WALKER – In affectionate remembrance of our dearly loved and only son, Lance-Corporal T. E. Walker, West Riding Regiment, died of wounds received in action September 26th, 1918. Buried at Le Treport, France.

Sweet Memories dwell in the home of his childhood,
The place where the morn of his life-time was spent;
And true hearts still hold him in sweetest affection,
Unchanged and warm as they were when he went.
It was hard to leave you in a foreign land,
Some time, some day, we shall understand.

A year has passed, dear brother,
Loving memories still remain;
Hours of joy we spent together,
Joys we cannot share again.

Lance-Corpl. Tom Walker, of the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, only son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Walker, of 3, Thornton Street, Skipton, has been wounded in the left arm and chest, and is at present in the 47th General Hospital, France. Lance-Corpl. Walker enlisted about four years ago and had been in France three years. He had previously suffered from trench feet. He is 24 years of age, and was formerly employed as a loomer and twister for Mr. Wright Stephenson, at Broughton Road Shed, Skipton.

Skipton Soldier Dies of Wounds

Lance-Corpl. Tom Walker of the Duke of Wellington’s West Riding Regiment, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Walker, 3, Thornton Street, Skipton, died on Friday last at the 47th General Hospital, France, as a result of wounds to the left arm and chest. Owing to the seriousness of his wounds, Mr. and Mrs. Walker were sent for, and Lance-Corpl. Walker passed away in their presence. Corpl. Walker enlisted about four years ago, and had been in France three years. He had previously suffered from trench feet. He was 24 years of age, and was formerly employed as a loomer and twister by Mr. Wright Stephenson at Broughton Road Shed, Skipton.
