Thomas Morphet Slinger was the son of James and Elizabeth Slinger, née Morphet. Both parents were born in the Parish of Chapel-le-Dale, Yorkshire. Thomas was was related to Private Vincent Slinger (265583) (q.v.).

FOULRIDGE SOLDIER KILLED

Information has been received that Private Thomas Morphet Slinger, of the King’s Liverpool Regiment, was killed in action on October 5th. Private Slinger, who was 27 years of age, enlisted in May 1916, and went to France after a few months training. He formerly resided in North Street, Colne bur he was a Foulridge young man. Being the second son of Mr. and Mrs. James Slinger, late of Burwains Farm, Foulridge. Before joining the Army he was employed as a weaver, and was connected with the Foulridge Parish Church, and Institute. He was married nine months ago and he is survived by his widow.
