A SILSDEN MAN WOUNDED

Private Wilfred Naylor, of the Highland Light Infantry, and son of Mr. Joseph Naylor, of 2, Woodlands View, Leeds, has been wounded by shrapnel whilst serving in France. In a letter to a friend at Silsden, dated April 11th, Pte. Sam Fort, of the R.A.M.C., states:– “You will see this writing is not Wilfred Naylor’s. I am sorry to inform you that he has been wounded in the right arm just above the elbow. The wound has been caused by shrapnel, which has smashed the bone, but he himself is very well, and that I know as I have been with him to-day. He will be coming over to England very soon, but they might have to operate on his arm on account of shrapnel.” Pte. Naylor carried on business as an hairdresser at Silsden for three years prior to enlisting, and is 39 years of age. He was an old soldier, having served for many years in the forces prior to the outbreak of war.
