William Edmund Bushby was the son of Edmund and Mary Isabella Bushby, née Hargraves. Edmund was born at Newbiggin and Mary at Walden, Yorkshire.

1901 Burton cum Walden Civil Parish, Yorkshire Census: William E. Bushby, aged 2 years, born Aysgarth, Yorkshire, son of Edmund and Mary I. Bushby.

1911 West Burton, Yorkshire Census: William Edmund Bushby, aged 12 years, born West Burton, son of Edmund and Mary Isabell Bushby.

The British Army Service Record for William Edmund Bushby exists but may be incomplete. A copy of a letter in the record that was sent to his father, Edmund, in 1920, states that William's remains were exhumed from an isolated grave and buried in Vichte Military Cemetery.
