William Russell (born 17 June 1886) was the son of William and Agnes Thwaite Russell, née Dinsdale and brother of A/L/Corporal Thomas Russell (P/2584) (q.v.). William, senior, was born at Castle Bolton and Agnes at Mossdale, near Hawes, Yorkshire. Agnes was the cousin of Private Thomas Thwaite (242720) (q.v.).
