Arnold Bishop was the son of George and Laura Bishop, née Rickard. George was born at Skipton, Yorkshire and Laura at St Ive, Cornwall. Arnold was the cousin of Private Ernest Bishop (266954) (q.v.) and 1st cousin once removed of Private Stephen Bishop (2664) (q.v.).

1891 St Helens, Lancashire Census: 4, Raven Street - Arnold Bishop, aged 2 years, born Skipton, Yorkshire, son of George and Laura Bishop.

1901 Blackpool, Lancashire Census: 9, Lodore Road - Arnold Bishop, aged 12 years, born Skipton, Yorkshire, son of Laura Bishop (married).

Arnold was married to Lilian G. Parker in 1913.
