KETTLEWELL - Obituary

The remains of the late Mrs. John Briscoe were laid to rest on Thursday last in the Parish Churchyard. The deceased lady, who was intimately connected with Kettlewell, died in London at the advanced age of 77. Many persons attended the funeral as a last mark of respect to an old friend. A particularly sad feature for the family is the death of two of the deceased's grandsons-Noel Briscoe died in Australia from influenza, and Hylton Briscoe on active service in France from pneumonia, both being only sons.

[The above obituary refers to Agnes, the grandmother of Air Mechanic 3rd Class Charles William Hylton Briscoe, who died on the 7 December 1918.]

23 December 1921

BRISCOE - In ever loving memory of -

Noel, who left us 10th November, 1918, Auckland, New Zealand;
Mother, who left us 6th December, 1918, London;
Hylton, who left us 7th December, 1918, France;
Father, who left us 10th February, 1920, South Africa.

In our great loneliness here, we miss them, but we know God has them all in His safe keeping. Just on the other side they wait for us; then vain is weeping.

In peace they now abide.

W. B. and S. H. Briscoe, London.
