Ernest Raymond Smith survived the Great War and was still living in 1930 (see 'View Additional Text' below - England & Wales, National Probate Calendar (Index of Wills and Administrations), 1858-1966). It has not been possible, so far, to identify another Ernest R. Smith as named on the Earby War Memorial.

Ernest Raymond Smith was the son of Tillotson and Mary Ann Smith, née Smith. Tillotson was born at Lothersdale and Mary at Glusburn, Yorkshire.

1911 Earby, Yorkshire Census: School Lane - Ernest Smith, aged 15 years, born Lothersdale, Yorkshire, son of Tillotson and Mary Ann Smith.
