Frank Myers was the son of James William and Eliza Myers, née Gibson. James was born at Accrington, Lancashire and Eliza at Leeds, Yorkshire (c. 1872). Frank was the half-brother of Corporal Walter Davis Gibson (265178) (q.v.) and cousin of Private Arthur Bailey (83117) (q.v.).

WOUNDED AND MISSING

Private Frank Myers, Skipton, of the Duke of Wellington’s, has been severely wounded, and has been admitted into No. 4 General Hospital, Lumiers, suffering from severe gunshot wounds in the head. Further news from the matron-in-charge states that Private Myers condition is still serious, but everything possible is being done for him. Private Myers has three brothers serving with Colours – one in France, one in Salonica, and one in Mesopotamia.

Official news has been received that Private Frank Myers, Duke of Wellington’s Regiment, of Skipton, who was stated a few weeks ago to be seriously wounded, having been shot in the head and blinded, succumbed to-his mounds on May 30th. Private Myers was 19 years of age, and had been in the Army 3½ years, but had only been on active service since the beginning of this year. Before enlistment he was employed by Messrs. Stockdale and Helm, grocers, Private Myers’ step-brother, Sergeant Walter Gibson, was killed in action on April 30th, just a month previous.
