BOLTON-BY-BOWLAND – NEWS FROM THE FRONT

Pte. Frank Pickthall, of the King’s Own Royal Light Infantry, is reported “missing.” Previous to being called up he was a farm servant at Mr. Wilkinson’s, of the Coach and Horse Hotel. His father says on the 12th of this month he got his letters of a month ago returned with a note enclosed stating that Frank was seen to be hit on July 31st, but owing to the nature of the operations, it was impossible to render him assistance, and that he had since then been missing. Last week official notice had been received that he was wounded and missing.
