BARNOLDSWICK – Another Casualty

A telegram was received on Wednesday stating that Lance Corporal Frank Sagar (East Lancashires) had been wounded on Monday by gunshot in the abdomen, and was in a serious condition at a casualty clearing station in France. He is 21 years of age and the son of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Sagar, 7, Ribblesdale Terrace, Barnoldswick.

SAGAR – On October 17, from wounds received in action. Lance Corporal Frank Sagar, East Lancashire Regiment, son of Mr. and Mrs. G. Sagar, 7, Ribblesdale Terrace, Barnoldswick, aged 21 years.

BARNOLDSWICK SOLDIER KILLED

On Friday last Mr. and Mrs. G. Sagar, 7, Ribblesdale Terrace, Barnoldswick, received official intimation that their son, Lance Corporal Frank Sagar, East Lancashire Regiment, had succumbed to his wounds at a casualty clearing station in France. Two days previously they received a telegram stating that he was suffering from gunshot wounds in the abdomen and was in a very critical condition. His death took place on the 17th inst. at the age of 21 years.

SAGAR – In loving memory of Lance-Corporal Frank Sagar, who died of wounds October 16th, 1916, and was interred October 17th at Puche Villiers [Puchevillers] Cemetery, France.

Could we have raised his dying head,
And heard his last farewell;
T’would not have been so hard to part
With one we loved so well.

His death took place on the 17th inst. at the age of 21 years. He had been in France 15 months, and before joining the army worked at Messrs. Bradley Bros., Bankfield Shed.
