Somewhere in France in a soldier’s grave
Lies my dear husband among the brave;
Sleep on, dear Fred, so kind and true,
No one on earth is better than you.
For me you always did your best,
May God give you eternal rest;
Oft I sit and think of you
When I am all alone,
For memory is the only friends
Grief can call its own.
