George Frank Henson was the son of Allan and Grace Henson, née Mitchell. Allan Henson was born at Keresley, Warwickshire, 12 February 1859 and was the son of John and Mary Henson. In 1881 John and Mary were living at Cross Roads, Yorkshire with their children. Grace Mitchell was born in the Parish of Bingley, Yorkshire and was the daughter of Isaac and Ann Mitchell who in 1881 were also living at Cross Roads.
The wreath laid when the Settle Market Cross was converted to a temporary shrine read: In loving memory of my dear nephew, Sergeant Frank Henson, A.I.F. ('Craven Herald' 15 August 1919).
