George Reginald Sissons was the son of William Thomas and Emma Sissons, née Smith and brother of Lieutenant Roland Edward Sissons (q.v.). Their father was born at Kippax and mother at Kildwick, Yorkshire.

1901 Garforth, Yorkshire Census: Lidget Road - George R. Sissons, aged 7 years, born Kippax, Yorkshire, son of Emma Sissons, widow.

1911 East Retford, Nottinghamshire Census: King Edward VI Grammar School - George Reginald Sissons, aged 17 years, born Little Preston, Yorkshire.

British Army WW1 Medal Rolls Index Cards: Pte George R. Sissons, 2639, 330407, Yorkshire Hussars; 236003, West Yorkshire Regiment. Theatre of War first served in: (1) France. Date of entry therein: 17 April 1915.

On the 13 November 1917 the 9th (Service) Bn Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment) absorbed the 1/1st Yorkshire Hussars Yeomanry and became the 9th (Yorkshire Hussars Yeomanry) Bn Prince of Wales's Own (West Yorkshire Regiment).

George is commemorated on the Swillington War Memorial.

SISSONS – July 23rd, 1919, officially presumed killed near Hulloch on June 27th, 1918, after being ‘missing’ from that date, aged 25, George Reginald Sissons, Lance-Corpl. Yorks. Hussars Yeomanry, attached 9th West Yorks. Regiment, third son of the late Wm. T. Sissons, Little Preston Hall, Yorks., and of Mrs. Sissons, Waterloo Manor, Garforth, Leeds.
