Gilbert Tennant (born 14 August 1873) was the son of John and Mary Tennant, formerly or née Wright. John was born at Buckden and Mary at Great Busby, Yorkshire.

1881 Buckden Yorkshire Census: Gilbert Tennant, aged 7 years, born Buckden, son of John and Mary Tennant.

1891 Buckden Yorkshire Census: Gilbert Tennant, aged 17 years, born Buckden, son of Mary Tennant, widow.

Gilbert served with the Royal Navy from 19 March 1900 to 22 March 1912.
