BANKS - November 28th 1917, from wounds received in action, Signaller Harry Banks, West Riding Regiment, brother of Mrs. Adams, 18, River Place, Gargrave, aged 20 years.

ANOTHER GARGRAVE LAD KILLED

A few days ago a telegram reached Mrs. Adams, 18, River Place, with the sad news that her brother, Signaller Harry Banks, of the West Ridings, had succumbed in hospital to a gunshot wound in the head on the 28th November. He joined up three years ago, went across on February 8th last, and received his severe wound in action, dying at the age of 20 years. Prior to enlisting he worked as a weaver at Shuttleworth's Shed, Earby. We give his photograph above. At the Parish Church, the Rev. A. C. Blunt, vicar, very feelingly referred to the sad event at the close of last Sunday evening's service, and the congregation stood during the playing on the organ by Mr. E. Burlend, of the Dead March.

IN MEMORIAM

BANKS - In loving memory of my dear cousin, Harry Banks, aged 20 years., who died November 28th, 1917, somewhere in France.

We cannot Lord Thy purpose see,
But all is well when done by Thee.

From Annie and Children.

BANKS - In ever loving memory of my dear Sweetheart, Private Harry Banks, killed in action November 28th. 1917, aged 20 years.

Sleep in peace, oh dearest sweetheart,
Though my loss I still deplore;
Flitting time will reunite us,
You have only gone before.

From Ann, 22 Shuttleworth Street, Earby.

BANKS - In ever loving memory of our dear brother, Private Harry Banks, 2/6th Duke of Wellington's, killed in action, November 28th, 1917, aged 20 years.

We pictured his safe returning,
We longed to clasp his hand,
But God has postponed the meeting
Till we meet in the Better Land.

God knows how much we miss you,
More than loving words can tell;
Not one day have we forgot you
Since you bade this world farewell.

Often in our minds we see you,
As we did in days of yore;
When life is o'er we hope to meet you
Safe beside the golden shore.

From his loving Sisters Jane, Florrie and Hannah and Brother Dick (serving in France), 18 River Place, Gargrave.

IN MEMORIAM

BANKS - In loving memory of Private Harry Banks, of Gargrave, killed in action November 28th, 1917, aged 20 years.

In the sad and silent hours,
When sleep forsakes my eyes;
My thoughts are far away in France,
Where a brave young soldier lies.
Oh, how oft it comes before me,
Your face so fond and true;
Resting now in peace with Jesus,
A loving heart remembers you

From Ann, 22 Shuttleworth Street, Earby.

BANKS - In ever loving memory of our dear brother, Private Harry Banks, of Gargrave, killed in action November 28th, 1917, aged 20 years.

One of the best of brothers has gone,
His loss is felt by everyone;
He went to France to do his best,
And now has gone with God to rest.
Though far from home in a soldier's grave,
In memory he will live for aye;
The evening stars shine on the grave
Of him we loved, but could not save.

From loving Sisters and Brother Dick, 18 River Place, Gargrave.

Sleep in peace, O dearest sweetheart,

Only a name and number;
In his mound of earth and moss
May peacefully my sweetheart slumber.
