DIED SMILING

Brierfield Young Man Killed

Pte. Harry Chadwick (No. 48956), King's Liverpool Regiment, is reported to have been killed on Friday, the 13th, whilst in action. A pal writes to say that Harry, though fatally wounded, suffered little pain, and died smiling. His parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Chadwick, reside at 42, Halifax-road, Brierfield, and are well known in connection with St. Luke's Church and Sunday School, of which the brave lad was a member. He enlisted a year ago, and went out last September. He leaves one child, 2½ years old, and his widow was Miss Townson, daughter of the late Stephen Townson, who recently died at the Victoria Hospital, and who lastly resided at Ebor-street, Burnley. The widow resides with her mother at present at Barnoldswick.
