ANOTHER SKIPTON SOLDIER KILLED

To the already long list of Skipton men who have lost their lives in the great push has to be added the name of Private Harry Greenwood, of the K.O.Y. Light Infantry, son of Mr. Wm. Highton Greenwood of 94, Keighley Road, Skipton, news of whose death in action was received yesterday morning in a letter from the Rev. R. Shipman, chaplain. Twenty-five years of age, deceased was formerly a labourer in the telegraph department of the Midland Railway, and enlisted in February, 1915. He was married only about six weeks ago whilst on a brief leave from the Front, and the utmost sympathy is felt with the widow and his parents.

Pte. Greenwood went out to the Front with the West Riding Regiment, and was afterwards transferred to the K.O.Y.L.I.

Rev. R. Shipman, chaplain, writes to parents:– “It is with infinite regret that I must write and tell you that your son, Harry Greenwood, has died at this ambulance, and has just been buried by me. I am afraid I can give you no message, as he was unconscious. It will comfort you to know that he has been buried in a beautiful little cemetery and that a cross will be placed over his grave.”

Greenwood, the minister.
