GREENWOOD – Killed in action in Italy, Pte. Ira Greenwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Greenwood, of Workhouse Farm, Stanbury, aged 19 years.

CRAVEN AND THE WAR – KILLED IN ACTION IN ITALY

News was received on Friday of the death in action in sunny Italy of Private Ira Greenwood, son of Mr. and Mrs. Julian Greenwood, of Workhouse Farm, Stanbury. He is the first in that district to have laid down his life for his fellows in the British Expeditionary Force in Italy. Private Greenwood, who was 19 years old, joined up in February, 1917, and was in training at Hornsea and afterwards at Colchester, being drafted out to France on the 27th October, and from thence to Italy on the 8th November.
