Private Harry Clough, Steeton

Mrs. Harry Clough, who resides with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. Moyle, Elmsley Street, Steeton, on Wednesday morning received the sad news that her husband, Pte. Harry Clough, West Riding Regiment, had been killed in France. Pte. Clough had, owing to ill-health, to abandon the scholastic profession for which he was trained, and prior to his enlistment last July was in business as a photographer. He was married in October and went out to France during the winter. He was the eldest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Clough, Queen Street, Silsden. To the occupation of photographer the fallen soldier coupled that of music teacher, he being a talented pianist, and local music lovers regret his death. The news was conveyed to Mrs. Clough in a letter from the Records Office at York, which, after an expression of sympathy, stated that her husband, who was 31 years of age, was killed in action on March 31st.
